blCTRL is an application that can turn your BlackBerry into a wireless Bluetooth keyboard and mouse and works with any Bluetooth enabled laptop or PC.
It's easy to use, but a slight pain to setup, to be honest, I can see very little reason why anyone would actually use this application but since I am an app-junkie, I had to get it! The most common use that I can see myself using this application for is conducting power point presentations. Now instead of having to walk back over to my laptop to click any key to move onto the next slide I can simply click on my BlackBerry's trackball from anywhere in the room and move on with my presentation.
bluCTRL's website boasts that it can be used to surf the web or to control your media center from your BlackBerry but let’s face it, how many of us can actually read our laptops monitors from a good distance away unless you're hooked up to a projector or have a 60" LCD sitting on your desk? Most of us have to sit fairly close to our computers to be able to read the screen, and if you're that close why not just use your mouse and PC/laptop keyboard? I know that we're all addicted to our Berry's but who doesn't find a regular keyboard to be more convenient?
They also forget to mention that on a 17” wide screen laptop that it takes seven to eight swipes of your Blackberry trackball just to make it from one side of the screen to the next.
For the time being the product is free of charge, as it is in beta testing, but I can see them possibly begin charging for the application once it exits beta stage. So if you’re a person who has to give a lot of presentations and the company that you work for is too cheap to put out the cash for a $60 to $300 power point remote control then this is a must have for you. Get it while it’s free.
The controller application is downloaded to your BlackBerry device, and the receiver application must be downloaded and installed to your laptop/desktop computer.
