Exclamation How To Modify Plazmic Theme Builder To Export Lower OS'

I’ve figured out how to export Custom themes in a lower OS.

you need to edit some files..but its REAL easy. Do it at your OWN RISK….
  1. make sure Themebuilder is CLOSED
  2. locate the Plazmic CDK 4.5 directory in Program files.
  3. go to the directory RESOURCES
  4. select the file THEMES
  5. look for 2 folders. 1 is dimension240×260, the other dimension 320×240.
  6. within the dimension 240×260 there is a file called 8100Custom.
  7. Edit the following lines to look like this:
The files are located in the Resource/Theme directories, then the 240×260 directory (will have the 8100 files) the 320×240 (will have the 8300, 8800 files)
  8. these are the lines you edit:
    theme.supportedHandhe ldOs = 4.2.0,4.2.1,4.3,4.5 <-- This line is for the 240x260 file
    files theme.preferredHandhe ldOs = 4.5
    theme.importOs = 4.2.2,4.3.1
You will now be able to export the Custom 8100 Themes for OS 4.2.0, 4.2.1, 4.3 and 4.5
  1. Go to the dimension320×240 file and do the same for the 8300Custom, 8700Custom & 8800Custom
  2. Change this line ONLY:
    theme.supportedHandhe ldOs = 4.2.1,4.2.2,4.3,4.5 <-- This line is for the 320x240 file
You will now be able to export the Custom 8300/8800 themes under OS 4.2.1,4.2.2, 4.3 and 4.5
It is recomended that you export 8800 themes under OS 4.2.2 for the 8830 devices not using OS 4.5

ENJOY!

Do at my own risk? What's the worst that could happen?

I made a change to the instructions. I forgot I changed it from when I had it posted on BerryReview. See the OP with the BOLDED items.

When I try to save the file, it tells me I cannot save to the Plazmic folder? Also, I cannot save it as .properties? I would appreciate the help! Thanks!

Why would you want to export as .properties?

If you are set as the administrator of your PC you should just be able to right click the .properties file and open with Wordpad and make the edits then. Once done, just X out..and when it asks if you want to save, say yes.

it wont always do that with Vista ... i am assuming they are running vista with that problem.

they need to either run wordpad/notepad with admin rights or save it to the desktop and try moving it back into the folder overwriting the original. if the extention hasnt been changed to .txt

what i can do is add my copies as an attachment with the proper edits ... they can download them and overwrite their originals. that will save a lot of headache for people.

my files are attached ... Steve if you can check them out make sure they are correct that would be great.
Attached Files
File Type: zip plazmic files.zip (2.1 KB, 19 views)

Glad it worked for you. I know the permissions in vista can be more than the normal pc user is used to so it seemed like the easiest work around.
